HSU Softball Organizing Donations for Fire Victims

ARCATA, Calif. – The Humboldt State softball program is spearheading the efforts of the HSU Athletics Department in gathering donations to support relief efforts for Cardinal Newman High School and Hidden Valley Satellite School. Both schools were impacted by the fires in the Santa Rosa area.

“These fires have really hit home for a lot of our students and athletes here at HSU as well as other student-athletes in the CCAA,” said Head Coach Shelli Sarchett. “When something like this happens this close to home, we want to do whatever we can to get involved and help out those who have been impacted. Although we can never replace what has been lost, we hope to make the impact just a little less by doing what we can to help.”

“Fire is a beast that can destroy homes and leave families feeling lost for far too long,” said interim Athletic Director Duncan Robins. “My family lost our house to fire when I was in high school. Friends helped us re-establish a bit of normalcy through their generous donations that I remember to this day. I hope our gifts help our friends down south similarly.”

A list of requested donation items is listed below and the deadline to donate is Wednesday, Oct. 18. Donations can be delivered to the HSU Athletics Department; its office is located next to Lumberjack Arena.
